To know Marka was to know a woman of boundless heart. As a teacher she dedicated her life to nurturing the youngest among us, guiding them with patience and love. While Marka personally faced the challenges of her heart condition, she never let her illness dim her spirit or her commitment to her students.

In Marka's memory we are establishing a fund to support the Inova Children's Cardiology unit. Our goal is to provide resources for children facing similar cardiac challenges that Marka once fought so bravely herself, so that they can return to the classroom and simply continue growing, learning and enjoying life.

We celebrate Marka's dual legacy, her courageous fight against heart disease and her lifelong devotion to children.
