In loving memory of Kimberly “Kim” Lesley Kennedy who peacefully passed away on July 14, 2026 at the age of 58 in her home in Woodbridge, VA surrounded by her family.
Kim was born December 23, 1967 in Easley, SC to James Lesley and Judy Lesley. She attended Presbyterian College where she met her future husband and they were married 4 years later. For 36 years, their marriage was filled with laughter, love, and tons of adventure.
Kim was an Army wife for 36 years moving 14 times around the country and to Germany twice. Kim served in many roles including Family Support Group Leader and Army Community Service volunteer helping others where they were stationed. Kim taught Kindergarten for a few years before deciding to do the hardest job – being a stay- at-home mom - raising her daughter Jamie and still volunteering much of her time over 16 years for the Girl Scouts as Troop Leader as well as Cookie Manager and Treasurer for the local Girl Scout Service Unit consisting of 16 troops. Kim was also the glue that helped her family host 11 year-long high school foreign exchange students throughout the years who became their kids in their hearts.
Kim left behind many wonderful memories for everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband, COL (ret) James Kennedy, daughter Jamie Kennedy, her mother Judy Lesley, brother James Lesley, and sister Michelle Dove.
We thank you for your support to Inova Peterson Life with Cancer in her memory.
