In recognition and celebration of Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital and Asher—our healthy, funny, energetic toddler—we are hosting our second annual fundraiser and blood drive (a “Fundrive”) on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Clare and Don’s Beach Shack (130 N Washington St, Falls Church, VA 22046). All proceeds and blood donations will benefit Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital.

In March 2023, our than 17 month old son Asher had a choking incident, which led to total respiratory failure. During Asher’s 31 days at Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, VA, he had a life-saving surgery, spent 21 days in the PICU, including 14 days on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and received one-on-one therapies to help him regain strength and the ability to eat and drink safely. The care Asher received from his doctors, nurses, and ECMO specialists at Inova was indescribable. The team at Inova also took care of us—answering questions, providing support for Caden, and allowing us whatever grace we needed to put one foot in front of the other while living through an unimaginable catastrophe.
We are now focused on doing all we can to make sure other children get the benefit of the lifesaving care Asher had and other families get the focus and attention we received. We’d be honored if you could help us reach that goal.
